The MSc in International Management with a specialisation track in Management of Health Systems at University of Liverpool equips students with the skill-set for myriad managerial positions in organisations that participate in the many facets of the healthcare delivery system.
Essential tools will be provided enabling students to deconstruct the complex and integrated components that combine to create a healthcare system. The programme will also introduce the economic theories of supply and demand as they apply to the healthcare system while students discover how health services are organised, delivered, and evaluated. The behavioural aspects of consumers and providers are assessed, benefiting health professionals seeking leadership roles, and students also learn how to apply metrics to determine system efficiencies and profitability.
Students analyse and critique management theory and practice, and investigate and address a wide range of managerial issues and problems. Successful students will develop sound judgement in the face of ambiguous data and demonstrate advanced skills in financial and economic management.
In studying the complexity of international organisations and the interdependence of their strategy, policy, functions, processes, systems and people, students also learn how to apply their new knowledge to increase their managerial competence and personal effectiveness. Students will learn how to operate successfully in international and multicultural markets.
Successful graduates will earn a range of key transferable skills that will enhance access to a wide range of internationally focused managerial positions in financial and management services companies, blue chip manufacturing and service companies, major retailers, and the global healthcare industry.
The Management of Health Systems specialisation track is composed of four core modules (core modules A), one core elective module (core modules B), two specialisation modules, and one general elective module. Students complete their degree with an original dissertation (for a total of 180 credit points).
